Violence Interruption & Reduction Training Overview

The Cure Violence health model is built around three fundamental elements:  identification and detection using credible messengers; changing individual behavior; and changing community norms.  While the approach itself is built on a public health framework, the model must be slightly adjusted to reflect community and cultural differences.  Cure Violence provides training staff to cities, communities and organizations to assist those who are considering deploying this model to complement a traditional law enforcement approach.  The Cure Violence health approach is a violence prevention model that has been demonstrated to successfully reduce violence in high risk neighborhoods and communities by as much as 40-70%.
